Overview
JAK Hire was called in to provide a rapid ground protection solution for an Emergency Pole Access project at the edge of a housing estate. The works involved reducing a large hedge surrounding electrical poles and replacing one of the main poles. With the site located in a public playing field, the priority was to maintain safe access for utility vehicles while protecting the grass, minimising disruption to residents, and ensuring the park could continue to be enjoyed by the local community.
The Challenge
The project presented several access and environmental challenges:
- Restricted site location: The poles were positioned at the end of a small housing estate, accessed only via a public park.
- Community impact: With residents and park users nearby, disruption had to be kept to an absolute minimum.
- Ground conditions: The soft grass playing field was vulnerable to damage from heavy vehicles and equipment required for the pole replacement.

The Solution
JAK Hire deployed a Temporary Access Road using heavy-duty interlocking ground protection mats.
